Aftercare advice
Day 1
Remove the dressing after 2-4 hours.
Wash with unscented antibacterial soap and lukewarm water.
Pat dry with kitchen paper or air-dry. Avoid using a towel.
There’s no need to apply any creams on the first day. Just allow it to dry and make sure to wear clean clothes and sleep with clean bedsheets.
Your new tattoo is an open wound and should be treated as such. Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your fresh tattoo.
Day 2-14
Wash 2x a day (morning and evening). The most important thing in healing is keeping it clean.
Apply a thin layer of tattoo ointment 2x a day. Make sure it’s fully dry before applying ointment.
Until the tattoo is healed externally…
(ie no scabbing, flaking, irritation)
Don’t soak it in water. No baths, no swimming, no sauna, etc. (Showering is fine!)
Avoid strong sunlight. Cover with clothes if needed. Do not apply sunscreen for the first two weeks.
Avoid exercise that could cause heavy sweating. If unavoidable, clean the tattoo afterwards.
If you work in a dirty environment: keep the tattoo covered with clothing. Avoid re-wrapping with cling film if possible.
Avoid the gym. A fresh tattoo should never come in contact with shared gym equipment.
Don’t scratch or pick at it. Itchiness is a normal part of the healing process but scratching can cause poor healing and patchiness.
Once fully healed, make sure to apply sunscreen, moisturise regulary and stay hydrated to keep your tattoo looking its best throughout the years.
